Thanks for all of your comments in my last post. I don't plan to quit blogging entirely at this point, but I think I will maybe just lay low and post if I feel like I actually have something to say. Now, onto the title.
I have never been a runner, and I thought I was vehemently against it. However, after reading so many of your stories about running (and talking to my lovely SIL, C.C.), I feel inspired to start. I think I might eventually enjoy it, and I know it really helps you get in shape.
All of that being said, I am just reaching out to some of you avid runners to see if you recommend any brands of shoes that are more affordably priced? Since I'm just starting out I don't want to break the bank until I really get into running. Plus, I think I have to prove to my hubby I am going to stick with it before he will be cool with me buying new shoes so I hope my current ones hold out for a couple of weeks.
Anyway, any recommendations would be much appreciated!

runningwarehouse.com has some pretty awesome shoes!! And helllooo cheap. And fabulous next day shipping!
If you don't know what kind of "stride" you have, just stay within the "neutral support" range. Since you are just starting up, you won't need anything special designed for 20 mile runs or anything.
Hey! I don't run so much anymore, but I had a small spurt in college. I had New Balance for awhile, which are great. They were made for running, and actually have an awesome story about how they were made. Remind me, I'll tell you sometime. That said, I think Asics fit my feet better though personally. So I switched. They have those stores that will find your "stride" (like what dar said) for you and help you find a good fit. Nothing wrong with letting them tell you and then saying you want to think about it and come back.... meanwhile look online for a better price. :) That's my take.
I run in Under Armour now but I swore by New balance forever! And they are definitely reasonably priced! :) Good luck. I think you will love it!
I'm glad you posted this, I have been having the same questions about shoes, after being encouraged to run from some of my blog friends!
My cross country coach used to tell us all to run in Saucony - less expensive, but really good for your feet & legs. MUCH better than buying expensive Nikes & finding out your feet are wide & flat (I swear Nike only fits people with long thin feet), or whatever else you may find out.
I find Asics last longer and just don't fall apart as fast as others.
My kids are now noticing the same thing and they run cross country.
:D
I'm excited for you ;] Let me know if you need any help! Start slow (run two minutes, walk one for 30 thirty minutes or so) Always listen to your body, and that helps you strengthen your mind-body connection. Asics shoes are great, that's what I wear. I've learned that shoes are *very* important. People can blow out knees, etc. usually because they're not stable, or cushioned, enough. This quiz may help : http://bit.ly/5efNN
Run on!
I'm still on the quest for the perfect shoe as well. I have Nikes right now and I HATE them!! I have a very high arch and Nike is not my friend.. Oh well.
I'm proud you're getting out there! Don't get discouraged and start slow!! If you get hurt, you're just going to hate it...
Keep us updated!
used to like New Balance....now I like Adidas....as with other things, there are "new" shoes each year that are $$$, but last year's are almost or just as good and will be marked down. Also, if running does not work out for you, there is always walking, and you can walk in running shoes. Lots of times, the bouncy materials in the mid-sole lose their "bounce" before you see wear so you are wearing out your cartilage....that stuff is pretty valuable. You can stretch (somewhat) the life of shoes by buying replacement insoles. You can also run on softer surfaces- packed dirt, rubberized track if your local schools have that....a track can be boring but a rubberized track is so quick and spongy compared to pavement.
Good question because I just started running and I need new shoes, my Nikes are old and just not doing the trick.
I am so glad you are not going to quit blogging. That would make me so sad! I would miss you terribly.
I love running and comfortable shoes are best for a runner... I have nice pair of shoes which got from Sports Authority...
YAY for running!!! Wanna be running budies??? I'm sooo not joking.
